Division Days

Division Days

AYSO is an all volunteer organization. By lending a hand, you get a chance to meet other parents and show your kids the importance of being a part of the community. Our region asks every family to volunteer at least 4 hours every season. Parents who are not coaching, reffing, or on the board can help out with field set up, snack bar, info tent, and field takedown on division days.

Each division is assigned one or more days on which they are primarily responsible for most of the activities at the fields. But you can volunteer on any day that is convenient for you, not just your division day. These positions include: Field Setup, Field Takedown, Information Tent, Field Monitors and Snack Bar (as further described below). We need over 150 hours of volunteer help every weekend! Each team in the listed division is responsible for having a total of 5 volunteers on each division day: 2 snack bar, 1 field setup, 1 field takedown, and either 1 information tent or 1 field monitor volunteer sign up for that day.

We're use Signup Genius to organize our sign-ups.  Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:

2) Enter your email address so we can send you a confirmation and reminder (you do NOT need to register an account or keep a password on Signup Genius).

The volunteer opportunities are as follows:

Snack Bar. Become a Guy or Gal of the Grill, help serve meals to the community, or help organize and collect payments. Snack bar shifts are two hour stints helping out our CafĂ© 58 volunteers making sure our families have food and drinks as they come off a hard day of playing. No restaurant experience required, just a positive attitude and a willingness to be a part of the team.

Information Tent. At the info tent we help families find where their kids are playing, give out and collect game cards, and help find the right person to answer any questions that come up on game day. We try to have two volunteers at all times so you can sit with someone and get to know each other in between helping out members of the community with questions.

Field Setup. Enjoy sunrise with a dedicated team of volunteers so you are free to enjoy the rest of your day. Volunteers will set up tents and tables, deliver goals to fields for the teams to put up, line fields, and get everything set up so our kids can play. It's a real team effort, but goes quickly when everyone works together.

Field Take Down. If we get all the volunteers we request, this turns out to be the easiest job on the list. It is scheduled as a two hour shift, but when everyone shows up we can get it done in as little as 45 minutes. Field take down is similar to field set up, but reversed. After the teams with the last games take down the goals, take down volunteers collect and return them to the storage bin. Volunteers also take down all of the tents and tables and store them for the following week's games.

Field Monitors. Field monitors help ensure that we have a fun, fair, safe, and positive environment by roaming the fields and encouraging everyone to be on their best behavior. Field monitors must walk the fields for their full shift, so please don't sign up for this while your kids are playing. Please also be aware that if other positions are light, you may be repurposed to help elsewhere.
